This is a campaign to raise awareness of
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). This campaign aims to give insight into female genital mutilation, a controversial tradition, that affects girls and women all over the world. It raises awareness of the issues, and how different communities respond to it. The intention of the campaign is to empower girls and women, to show support and to give the affected individuals a voice. I designed a symbol using the female gender sign - cutting it up and putting it back together roughly, to reflect the FGM procedure. I designed t-shirts and tote bags, displaying the symbol I created, and the statistics related to FGM. The choice of the bright colours was to reflect positivity and the African heritage. By the wearing of the t-shirt, it unites communities across the world in their opposition to the practice of FGM.
